Training recap week two: making progress!

Well folks I survived another crazy week of training! This week topped off at 20.5 hours and included gobs of running, plenty of biking, and a special birthday suit swim on my big 2-9 out to the Mokes. This week was way better than last's and I'm already starting to see improvements: I'm recovering from hard efforts faster, starting to look and feel leaner, and have toughened up the lil' lady to endure 5 hours in the saddle without complaints. The suffering highlight was on Saturday as I pushed myself through a really brutal 5 hr triple brick (after running 6 hrs on the trails the previous day).  My legs found the power they lost during my offseason and I was able to push some significant Watts during my long intervals on the bike. The last thing I wanted to do was my 45 min run afterwards but I knew it was essential for both mental and physical toughness. I ran on these really desolate dried clay roads- pretty sure the kind of place where bodies aren't discovered for months- and pushed past the heat and the nausea and exhaustion. I spent the rest of the day nursing my sore body in preparation for a five hour ride the next morning. I swear, I still have no idea how I'm able to survive my crazy weekends! This week is a recovery week as I dial things down a notch and let my body adapt to all the suffering I've put it through over the past weeks. But I think it's safe to say- Frayed Laces is back!
