Well folks, the day is almost here! Yesterday MamaFL and I road tripped down to Panama City Beach. We took the back roads through the cotton fields and enjoyed the finest the rural countryside had to offer. Lunch was Hardees since it was the only food place for two hours (their turkey burger with a lettuce wrap is actually quite good!). We made a field trip to get some pecans to bring back to people in Hawaii ( if your ever drive through AL you need to stop at Priesters).
We got to the hotel in the afternoon just in time to meet up with Chloe! She did the race last year but is draft marshaling this year. We had fun running around the expo and catching up. This is the best part of being a blogging racer--friendly faces at the races!
Our hotel overlooks both the swim (@devoniain is down there somewhere in the swim picture) and the transition. This means I can wakeup race day, get transition set then go stay warm in the room! I can't tell you how happy that makes me feel.
Those of you following me on twitter know about my knee problem I finally came clean about yesterday. I'm trying to be optimistic, so we're not going to talk about that. Instead, we're going to talk about race day taking info!
On Saturday, log onto ironmanlive.com. Then click on ironman florida. You can get live race updates, track individuals our age groups, our even see a live webcam at the finish! My race # is 141. Mama FL will also be tweeting for me under my twitter account. If things go well, I expect to finish the legs in the following time ranges:
Swim: 1:05:00
T1: 5:00
Bike: 5:15:00-5:45:00
T2: 3:00
Run: 3:36:00-3:49:00
Total: 10:03:00-10:36:00
(sometime between 5 and 6pm central)
Again, this is all if things go well and according to plan. But it's an Ironman, and we all know how plans go out the window during a race this long!
