Health Limbo

If I'm gonna be sick, I want to be so sick that it completely knocks me on my butt. Not just "kind of" sick so I miss my workouts but can still function.  Hanging out in health limbo is really irritating to me.  Consider me irritated.

Friday at work I was struck with severe abdominal cramps. I got home, ate a standard dinner of quinoa and veggies, and hit the sack early.  I woke up in the middle of the night in GI hell. The next morning I was weak and tired, but otherwise fine. I skipped my long run and attempted a shorter run in the middle of the day.  My body wasn't ready for running so I just walked around the park. Got home, ate a hearty dinner, and went to bed.

Woke up at 5am feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed, and hit the road for a killer 6 hour brick workout. It was a beautiful day out on the roads and I got home deliciously grimy.

Love it when I have a dirt "tan"

Thought I'd take some of the North Shore home with me

Nailed my watts on my intervals and busted out an impressive pace for my 45 min transition run. Got home, cleaned the bike, did laundry, cleaned the house, did a strength workout, hit the pool, did some work, etc.  Basically had a rocking day. Ate dinner (Thai takeout which I eat often) and hit the sack early with visions of a 5 am pre-work recovery run.

The recovery run didn't happen, but instead I got a 5 hour ab workout.  Another night in GI hell, and last night was worse than Friday. Thank goodness my wireless works in the bathroom.  I caught up on an entire season of Parks and Rec while I moaned and groaned from the bathroom floor.  I managed to drift into something resembling sleep at 5am.

Fever? Nope. Chills? Nope. Sick during the day? Nope.  My only symptom is my body simply not wanting food inside of it. But the fact that I was fine Saturday night is very perplexing. C'mon body, get with the program! We got training to do!

  1. Ugh, I don't know what you have, but it sounds awful! I'd say pregnancy, but with a long distance relationship, that's unlikely :)

  3. Dear, dear. Sounds like a bacterial GI infection. Hopefully it will run its course; sometimes Pepto actually helps because believe it or not it has mild antibacterial properties thanks to its structure.
