A few weeks ago several other running bloggers had a giveaway for the Sony W Series MP3 player, but due to the magical time suck of getting things shipped to Hawaii you have another opportunity to win!Sony's newest sport MP3 player, the W Series, is aimed at athletes. Especially the salty, sweaty, dirty kind. Perfect for runners! The Walkman W-Series is cord-free and designed to be lightweight and wearable, with a water-resistant frame that fits comfortably behind the neck. Additional features include Content transfer software, a quick charge function, and up to 11 hours of battery life. It also has a special song navigation function that lets you quickly browse through your music collection.
Many people I know LOVE this device. They love it because it's cord free, charges quickly, and is a breeze to set up. I even know someone who has used it successfully in the pool (but Sony says don't do that since it will void the warranty). Bottom line: this puppy is built to last.
I wish I could love this product just as much. I love music and use it during all my workouts. My current device, an Ipod shuffle, is on its last leg, and this would be perfect to replace it.
But there's just one problem: I can't keep it in my ear. No matter what earbud I put in (they have adjustable earbuds) I just can't keep it from bouncing out of my right ear. I tried twisting, I tried shoving....no dice.
Perhaps I just have abnormal ears, or something, since everyone else I know loves this device and doesn't seem to have the same problems.
So, for all you normal-eared people out there, this is your chance! I have not one but TWO brand-new Sony W series players to give away!
Giveaway Rules and Details
Usually I just ask you to submit a comment, but I'm going to take a cue from some of my fellow bloggers and start using twitter as an entry method as well!
Entry Method 1: Comment on this post and answer the question: "what is your favorite power workout song?"
Entry Method 2: Twitter! Send out the following tweet: "I just entered the @Sony W-series MP3 player from @frayed_laces http://frayedlaces.blogspot.com"
So for you mathematically challenged people, that means you have two opportunities to enter! Good luck!
The giveaway ends at 5pm eastern on Tuesday, April 5. Winners will be posted by April 6.
Please, as with all Frayed Laces giveaways, it is the winner's responsibility to check back on Frayed Laces to see if you won. So don't forget to check back in!

I love pretty much anything from Girl Talk to work out to. I don't even know if those songs have names ... I start having earbud issues when I get sweaty, this looks intriguing!
ReplyDelete"stronger" by kanye west has been one of my favs for a couple years now
ReplyDeleteLove Adele's Rolling in the Deep. Has a great build to the beat and dark vocals. Perfect for powering up hills. "Tears are gonna fall" baby!
ReplyDelete"Sunlight" by Harlem Shakes is my current rock out while running/on the trainer/drinking wine song.
ReplyDeleteI sweated through two Shuffles over the course of two years and sort of wanted to punch Apple in the face as a result. I currently have an iPod Touch with Yurbuds which is fantastic except the IPod takes up my whole too-skinny arm when I run so I've been wanting to check out the Sony except I don't feel like spending more bucks on more mp3 players.
That is an unasked-for response to your question. But I want the damn Sony.
Oh the list is long but if I had to narrow it down I would say Dropkick Murphys The Warriors Code and AC/DC If you want blood (you got it.
ReplyDeleteGirl Talk does have some good music on it and they do have names. :)
I tweeted your message too.
I have been trying to win one of these so hard!! I don't have an MP3 player. I usually like to run without music unless its longer runs but man those longer runs get boring especially after about 3 hours.
ReplyDeleteSo my power jam is Florence and the Machine Dog Days Are Over!!

The video is fun and the lyrics are fab!

Bleed it Out - Linkin Park. Love the energy of this song for a pick me up at the end of a long workout.
ReplyDeleteAudio books...does that count for "music"? It helps me seriously zone out for a good long run!
ReplyDeleteRight now, Pink's "Raise Your Glass" is my speedy power song.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted! (@carrotrunr)

ReplyDeleteThe Warrior and Rehab are probably my favorite workout songs, but all the discussion on this topic indicates I need to update my workout playlists.
ReplyDeleteIt's a DJ mix by Preach. It's mostly techno songs and lasts an hour, so it's great for working out.
ReplyDeleteI think Eminem really gets you pumped, like his song "Lose Yourself"

i really dont have a favorite "power work out song"
ReplyDeleteI like fun up tempo songs that make me smile, cuz when i smile, I enjoy it all the more :)
I'll be reviewing this one soon, too, with the accompanying giveaway. I haven't been out for a run yet with it because I haven't had time to load it with songs, but my initial wear-around-the-house has led me to believe it may not stay in my ears all that well either. We'll see, but anyway, thought I'd let you know that it may not be just your ears. (Obviously don't enter me in the contest, but my favorite running music is anything by Michael Franti.)
ReplyDeletei tweeted! :)
ReplyDeleteI am currently obsessed with Paramore - Brick by Boring Brick is awesome.
ReplyDelete"Sure Shot" by the Beastie Boys! You Can't, You Won't And You Don't Stop!

ReplyDeleteI love "The Riches" by Jane's Addiction. It changes tempos and you feel like a million bucks when you push through until the end!
ReplyDelete"Stone Free" by Jimi Hendrix, amongst dozens of others that I cant recall at the moment, hate how that works.
ReplyDeleteGlobus - Europa
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc56moy0poA
Makes me feel like I'm in some kind of epic movie.
Lately I am loving a few of Joe Satriani's songs, which is odd for me b/c I usually prefer music with words. Crowd Chant and Train of Angels are my favorites right now.
ReplyDelete"Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen always gets me pumped up. I need it to come on right at the end of my run, when I've got nothing left!
ReplyDeleteAnd I tweeted! (@gidgetrunning)

Catch-22, Keasbey Nights. Can't beat working out to the awesome brass sound of a good ska band.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to pick a song. It would have to be Song-X by East West.
ReplyDelete"Last" by NIN. Not only for the hard-driving beat, but for the lyric "This isn't meant to last; this is for right now." It works every time. <3
ReplyDeleteHow stupid does a grown-man look if he says his power workout song is "piece of me" by Britney Spears?

ReplyDeleteFor some reason the Hairspray movie soundtrack keeps me running strong!
ReplyDeleteMy power song changes frequently. Right now I am loving the theme song to the Sopranos : )
ReplyDeleteLil Freak by Usher! I have no idea why but that song gets me fired up like a crazy person!
ReplyDeleteI didn't even have to think about the answer to this one! I crank up Evanescence "Call Me When You're Sober". I started this during a breakup because this so reminded me of my ex's behavior and it kept me strong and off the phone to him! Now it just reminds me I am a fabulous woman and don't have time for losers!
ReplyDelete(But most of the time I listen to nature unless it is a long, long run. It reminds me of where I am in the present).
Great blog! I've found that anything by Miike Snow is fantastic for running.
ReplyDeletePOKER FACE! I love that song so much that I once played it 10 times in a row during a long run.
ReplyDeleteit may be off the charts by now, but not off my ipod!
I tweeted - @RunningFirst

I would love to try that little gadget! My favorite workout power song right now is Quiet Little Voices by We Were Promised Jetpacks. I did a 12k race last weekend and just seriously kept that song on repeat the ENTIRE time. It's the right beat for my cadence and there are some loud, rejuvenating sections.
ReplyDeleteI feel like an exercise bada$$ when I play "Hot Tottie" by Usher (Ursher baby!). :)
ReplyDeleteI love running and working out to any old school Whitney Houston song! Specifically "How Will I Know". They are always upbeat and make you dance, not to mention they are a bit longer (5min) than songs these days so they get you through some touch hills and whatnot.

ReplyDeleteI tweeted as well!
ReplyDeleteI don't listen to music while running or biking. But home workouts, or the treadmill, well, it varies...Depends on what I'm doing, lifting weights? HIIT? I can say my favorite site for music is BeatPort.
ReplyDeleteOne song I love, love, love: What Else is There (Trentemoller Remix) by Royksopp
Eye of the Tiger! Definitely. Hard to sit still and impossible to not get fired up when that song is on. Then again, I love Rocky.

ReplyDeleteEncore/Numb the Jay-Z/Linkin Park mash up. LOVE.
ReplyDelete"Remember the Name" - Fort Minor
ReplyDeleteSearch and Destroy by Iggy Pop. And it has a connection to the show Lost and Hawaii to boot!
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few power songs, but I think the one that never dies for me is Linkin Park's Points of Authority, the original one - the Reanimation one is great, too, but the original almost has more punch, oddly enough.

ReplyDeleteMaybe not a "power" song, but I get pumped up on a run by Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle." One of the only songs that has remained on my running playlist for years.
ReplyDeleteThis is so embarrassing, but my power song is Black and Yellow. I'm from Pittsburgh and when the Steelers went to the Super Bowl this year that somehow turned into their playoff song even though it has nothing to do with football.
ReplyDeleteIt's on my iPod and once I listen to it, I get that second (or third or fourth) burst of energy!
