I think we may just have missed the highest inactivity level in my county. Hey, at least Mississippi is at the top of some list. Have I mentioned I don't love it here and don't fit in at all?
Such scary statistics! I am working in the policy world to increase opportunities for kids to eat healthy and be active....the statistics on kids are also pretty unfortunate :( But its getting better!
I live in NW NC right in the light spot which strangely gets very dark when crossing into TN... I always feel less healthy when driving over that state line...
I'm confused. West Virginia is one of the fattest states in the country... this is saying they are pretty active. I don't believe it. And why is the west coast so lazy according to this map?????
Well, Hawaii looks like the winner, but my state has got to be in the top five.
ReplyDeleteGo Oregon!
Hello, stroke belt!!
ReplyDeleteWe're the lowest! Not really surprising for coastal California, though...how could you not want to get out there with the amazing weather we have!?
ReplyDeleteBoth home (Seattle) and current residence (San Diego) are doing pretty good.

ReplyDeleteMy county isn't included. Hell, my whole country isn't included. Humphf.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere about a year ago that 60% of people do absolutely no physical activity whatsoever. Scary! I'm glad I'm in the other 40%.
ReplyDeleteI'm now in CA (nothing to laugh at with the color along the coast), but my home state of MN is making me proud right now! :)
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco is one of the most active cities in the country. I'm so lucky to live here, even when it rains.
ReplyDeleteAtlanta is helping bring up the state average....can't say much for Alabama & Mississippi...

ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

Nice! We are the shining star in the Lone Star State! Go Austin!
ReplyDeleteThat big yellow blob in the upper midwest? That's me!

ReplyDeleteTotally read it '% of active' and was thoroughly confused!
ReplyDeleteLook at Colorado standing out there in the middle. It's almost entirely light yellow probably mostly due to me and my influence.
ReplyDeleteThat seems really weird to me....the Pacific NW is full of active people who hike, bike and do all sorts of physical activities....??
ReplyDeleteNot so much the deep south more like the wide south!
ReplyDeleteInteresting, as I'm in a solid block of 20-24%. But I live in a college town, so that really throws my town out of the norm for the region.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder I place as well as I do in races here in Oklahoma!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!! I appear to live in one of the more active areas of Wisconsin!

ReplyDeletehaha... missed the "inactive" in the title of the map. :) Now it makes sense! ;)
ReplyDeleteLet's see Hawaii, No. 1 seems to makes sense, Minnesota, looks like No. 2, now that's something to think about.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a wake up call for America !
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't live in my home town anymore. It's very high for inactivity! I guess it's time for a run!
ReplyDeleteMinnesota YA Baby. It was -5 today when i got up in March but i know people were moving anyways:)
