Indoor Cycling Workstation

Graduate Students!

Are you constantly struck with the feeling of GUILT?

GUILT when you're studying because you're not training enough?

GUILT when you're training because you're not studying enough?

Well never fear! The indoor cycling workstation is here!

Constructed of only the finest materials--- Ironing board and library books.  It's not like you're going to read those books, anyways.  And let's face it: you're a grad student.  Do you ever iron ANYTHING?

As you can see, the key is in careful placement of the ironing board in relation to the aerobars.  This is achieved with book height selection. When my hands are on the aerobars they are literally scraping the underside of the ironing board.  My front wheel is wedged right between the opening in the board.  By doing so I don't have to lift out of aero to take notes.

Ugly? Perhaps.  A little low-class? You bet!  But isn't that what grad school's all about?

  1. haha. I love it!!! I'm desperate enough to use that right about now with the amount of studying I need to get done!

  2. I see one fatal flaw in your otherwise brilliant set-up--the excessive amount of sweat dripping and flinging off my person and onto the laptop. Hello, short circuiting!

  3. That is awesome. Love it. Not gunna lie. I'm 4 years post-grad school, but still use old text books to prop up my front wheel on the trainer.

Looking down and seeing "Human Sexuality" always makes me laugh a little. A necessity especially when I'm struggling to get through the tough interval sessions.

  4. That is awesome. Maybe patent this and start selling the idea at bicycle shops, then you don't have to worry about studying and not training.

  5. I love it! The ironing board is genius! I actually just posted today about playing video games (Mario Kart) while doing my trainer ride last night. Anything to make time on the trainer pass by faster!

  24. Hilarious. But on a serious note, I've never been successful at the work/study + exercise combo unless it involves memorization or verb conjugation (e.g., something rhythmic!)
