Are you constantly struck with the feeling of GUILT?
GUILT when you're studying because you're not training enough?
GUILT when you're training because you're not studying enough?
Well never fear! The indoor cycling workstation is here!
Constructed of only the finest materials--- Ironing board and library books. It's not like you're going to read those books, anyways. And let's face it: you're a grad student. Do you ever iron ANYTHING?
As you can see, the key is in careful placement of the ironing board in relation to the aerobars. This is achieved with book height selection. When my hands are on the aerobars they are literally scraping the underside of the ironing board. My front wheel is wedged right between the opening in the board. By doing so I don't have to lift out of aero to take notes.
Ugly? Perhaps. A little low-class? You bet! But isn't that what grad school's all about?

haha. I love it!!! I'm desperate enough to use that right about now with the amount of studying I need to get done!
ReplyDeleteI see one fatal flaw in your otherwise brilliant set-up--the excessive amount of sweat dripping and flinging off my person and onto the laptop. Hello, short circuiting!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. Love it. Not gunna lie. I'm 4 years post-grad school, but still use old text books to prop up my front wheel on the trainer.
ReplyDeleteLooking down and seeing "Human Sexuality" always makes me laugh a little. A necessity especially when I'm struggling to get through the tough interval sessions.
That is awesome. Maybe patent this and start selling the idea at bicycle shops, then you don't have to worry about studying and not training.
ReplyDeleteI love it! The ironing board is genius! I actually just posted today about playing video games (Mario Kart) while doing my trainer ride last night. Anything to make time on the trainer pass by faster!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Now I just need one of those anti-gravity treadmills so I can write/read/type while running!
ReplyDeleteHysterical!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's hilarious! Very responsible!
ReplyDeleteThat looks awesome. Can you do the ironing like that too?!
ReplyDeleteFantastic.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I use my laptop while I'm on the elliptical. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have so much xt!!
ReplyDeleteGENIUS! And I don't think you can call anything ugly that's got that ride next to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I think I might need to work on a setup like this! Haha
ReplyDeletei think i would ruin my laptop too... would definitely be good for reading though!
ReplyDeletelove it!
ReplyDeletelove it.....soo funny yet very smart
ReplyDeleteWhat a great use for an ironing board. Now maybe mine will actually be used for something!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it! i wish i could rig one of these up with a treadmill during finals week...lol.
ReplyDeleteand "a little ugly and low class" is pretty much the definitely of life in grad school!
HAhah awesome set up!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Multi-tasking at its best!! Have a great weekend
ReplyDeleteall this needs is a built in play pen for the toddlers and I'd be all set!
ReplyDeleteAre you as productive with your work?
ReplyDeleteI will be doing this over the weekend. fantastic
ReplyDeletelove it! I used to try to read papers on my trainer in grad school, but they got too sweaty...

ReplyDeletenice :)
ReplyDeleteThat is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeletePS - we have the same trainer :) KK rocks.
Hilarious. But on a serious note, I've never been successful at the work/study + exercise combo unless it involves memorization or verb conjugation (e.g., something rhythmic!)
ReplyDeleteI've gotta try this! :)
ReplyDeleteAs a grad student I couldn't have afforded that ironing board...
ReplyDeleteOMG! That's awesome!
