Training Update

First of all, thank you everyone for your words of encouragement.  When my alarm rang the next morning at 5am, I got up and instantly went to my phone to read the comments.  I guess I was looking for someone to give me the go-ahead to rest. I read the comment from SSB (my training partner) and rolled right over to sleep for another 90 minutes.

I got into work and felt totally spacey.  Chest congestion, frog-in-throat feeling, and really, really hyper emotional.  I tend to view training as a black and white thing, and feel like a failure when I miss workouts.  I'm sure many of you feel the same way. Poor Dr C had to listen to my woe-is-me story, and didn't know what to do/say to help me.  The morning was a bit of a washout. In retrospect, today was probably not the day to decide to wrestle with tech support in India, and was probably not the best day for my bank to have an internal error resulting in the freezing of my credit card.  One of those days.  To top it off today was the day everyone was asking how my training was going.  I just put on my big fat liar face and said "oh it's great" with a smile.

I toyed with the idea of swimming after work, but realized I had no swim cap in my car.  I took it as a sign that today was just meant to be another rest day.  I still feel really exhausted and have chest congestion.  I am planning on doing a trainer session with Maggs tomorrow.  If I feel good, I will push it, but if not, I will just be there to offer support.

Aside from my training woes, I do have some good things to look forward to.  The first is I am moving at the end of the month (yay!) to a place that is cheaper ($200/month cheaper) and has WAY better roommates.  I think my overall life quality will improve once I get into a new home.  The second is that I have picked up a tutoring gig so it looks like I will have some supplementary income (SCORE!).  And the third is that in three weeks I get to go to Ireland for the first time!  I have a conference in Cork, and am really excited to finally see Ireland.  Yes, training will be dicey and due to the nature of the conference I'll be lucky to get 1-2 hours of training a day, but I'm not going to pass up the chance for a free trip to Ireland!  And perhaps the best of all, on the way over to Ireland I have a 12-hour layover with Dr. C and I get to spend a week with him on my way back.  Boy trumps training woes any day!
