Today I had my first real track workout of this training cycle--the first one that actually counts. I decided to hit up the UH track with Maggs for a morning torture session. My session consisted of a 20' warmup plus tons of running drills, then a 2x100/2x800/2x600/2x400/2x200 with a 400m jog in between each set. The goal was to get faster on each.
Since Maggs has a race this weekend, she only had to do 2x1600 at race pace. Once her jog was over, she got relax and stare at clouds and vogue for the camera.
Meanwhile I was working my ass off trying to keep the pace around a 6:00/mi and not puke on each lap. Here's a shot of me doing my 400's:
And then a shot of my last 200: trying to hold it all together as I'm running as fast as I possibly can:
By the time I hit the final "lap" button on my Garmin, I was spent.
But I definitely left my mark on the track today
Let's hope the pool this afternoon is kinder.
